chasingcaribou:

A very kind soul offered to donate a top level domain to this, so, I was hoping for some suggestions.

OtherkinGathers.com is one such?

Something Google friendly, would be best. (:

I wonder if “gather”, though the term most used within the otherkin community*, is perhaps obscure to people who don’t already know the lingo. I mean, what terms do we think people ignorant of that might actually try in a search? Events? Conventions? (that would unfortunately be misleading - even Kinvention North really was not what the word “convention” tends to conjure up) Although I suppose really this could be handled better by good meta keywords and such. Otherkingathers.com isn’t a bad name, given that.

* - Another interesting point about therian and otherkin communities is differences in jargon. “Howl” and “gather” denote rather different kinds of expected attendees, f’rinstance. I suppose you could say a howl is a specialized kind of gather, though. (So by the same token… I would love for a specialized point-ears-type gather. Hm… You know, this discussion is actually making some things come together in my head, I think.)

Dunno how best to reply to the suggestions I saw in a comment on the original post:
KinGather.com - I think the shortening “kin” would be misleading in this case. Sounds like a site talking about family reunions or something.
OtherkinGather.com - this sounds like it’s the website for one single event.
OtherkinGatherReso[u]rce.com - the shorter, the better, I think. No need to put “resource” in the url; that’s obviously what it is (will be) and people probably would not think to type that in a url if they were just guessing.
