Anecdotes aside, here are my tips for taking a luxurious bath:

  • Throw in a chunk of cocoa butter. The cooking grade stuff you find at the supermarket is great. Your skin will be silky smooth when you get out of the bath!
  • Sweet almond oil is also wonderful to put in the water - I recommend blending some almond oil with sweet smelling essential oils, such as lavender or jasmine (my personal favourites)

I understand the sentiment, but putting fats down your bathtub drain like this is a good way to plug it up, just like putting cooking fats down your kitchen drain. You may be able to get away with light oils dispersed in a good deal of water, but I would never recommend putting cocoa butter, which is solid at room temperature (never mind anything colder), down a drain.
