I want more opportunities to meetup irl with ‘kin of all kinds, but also special meetups for those of similar species/identities. I’d give anything to just hang out alone with a few fellow felines!

It’s really much easier to start a meetup or small event than many people seem to think. The main obstacle, beyond whether the radius you are trying to cover actually has enough ‘kin or therians in it to support a small thing (people are usually willing to travel a bit more for longer things - but don’t get me started; this has been a problem for me for ages) is getting people motivated to actually come. Where I am I have problems with people saying they do not/cannot afford to drive and can only get to places accessible by public transit (which is pretty crappy, so very limiting). But if you can surmount that problem, it’s very simple to pick a place and go there, even if you don’t want to cough up to Meetup.com (which, although it annoys me to have to do so, does make coordinating announcements and RSVPs simpler for anything more than about 5 potential attendees). A bigger gather is a bigger investment of money, and there is the issue of finding a good spot - but try, try, try. Don’t assume it’s impossible or that only someone else would be capable of doing it and therefore you just have to wait and hope. This is one thing where turning a wish into a reality is really a very small step, if you can get the bodies, and there’s little or no lasting consequence to failure.

I also wish there were sites dedicated to fictionkin/fictives specifically, forums for discussion regarding those identities
