I’d just make it a wild foods restaurant. I mean, how many actual kin could be local and willing to work and eat there enough to support it.

That’s not a bad idea. It’s got a certain cachet, there’s a kind of clientele who would be into that and willing to pay higher prices for “experience” (including myself, although I doubt I’d go to Boulder, was it? just for that - I live in the SF Bay area in California, mind, where there are already some small establishments along these lines). This restaurant is a fun concept, but I really think it’s true that it’s highly unlikely there would be enough ‘kin nearby to form a large enough customer base. A restaurant, being a particular sort of business, is harder to make fly than the idea of ‘kin community centers would be (since the latter technically requires only empty space and not all the trappings of food service).

Maybe, too, “restaurant” is a tad ambitious in the scope it connotes - perhaps “cafe” is a more realistic target? One could be a little hole in the wall.
