Today I decided to go online and search for Otherkin forums. If you recall, Otherkin forums boomed a few years ago. Particularly, Elves flooded these discussion boards soon after the Lord of the Rings movies. Anyway, I digress; it was a surprise that there are only a few active online communities out there today. Even there, only a few people are active on the sites themselves. Therians, mostly, some vampires, and other kinfolk. Where have all the Elves gone?
I suspect after the hype from Peter Jackson’s films died down, the “wannabe Elves” also went with it. A good thing, in the end. But time changed, social networking forms came and went, and the once-active communities have turned into graveyards — as with myself, I suspect that the true Elves have moved on and focused on everyday life. Some do not care about their Elven lives anymore, and those who were not true now laugh at or angrily shun their claimed identity. But there are also those who have been slowly pulled away by life by the lack of Elf-oriented discussions.
Who am I? I belong to a race called the Eldar, and as obviously stated before, fall under the blanket term Elves. No, we do not think we are Arwen, Legolas and Elrond. If you seek clarification,the best source out there that somehow explains the Eldar is to visit the website “Tië eldaliéva”. Note that we neither have affiliation with Tië eldaliéva nor subscribe to their teachings.
I myself, as well as the few original and true Eldarin kin, still remain, but I still search for many wandering kin out there.
