Weird. I originally tagged this “sunset” then corrected myself to “sunrise”, because this appears to be a waning moon and the waning moon that low in the sky with the sun also visible would have to be at sunrise (the moon rises later and later every night until it wraps around to rise with the sun at new moon).

Then I happened to go look at its flickr page and apparently it was taken at sunset - in the southern hemisphere. (the photographer says the moon appears “inverted” because of that)

The horns point the other way (well really it’s upside-down compared to what I usually see) in the other hemisphere?

Mind blown. Never thought of it. I knew the stars looked different, but never considered the moon.

(And suddenly I have some sympathy for some people who insist the progression of phases looks like this ( O ) and not like this )O( … )
